Heart of Georgia. April 25-26, 2014. Our 10th anniversary of this run! Still a Dixie favorite. Set-on is downtown Pitts, Georgia, about 15 miles east of Cordele. (Plenty of good hotels in Cordele and you may leave your trailer at Pitts.) On Saturday we will travel to Alamo. Lunch stop in Milan on the return. Approx 1005 miles. Cars will remain on the tracks in Pitts Saturday night. Sunday we travel west, crossing 3 diamonds in Cordele, and have lunch at turn-around in Plains. This day is about 127 miles with some fine running on welded rail west of Americus. From the tracks you will see plenty of farm land, big rivers, pecan groves and lots of pine trees. Folks have reported seeing alligators at Lake Blackshear. Cost is the same as last year: $175 for both days. 35 car limit. Hope you can join us! Click for Registration Form and Acceptance Letter. |
